Frequently Asked Questions

How do I protect my home during the process?  We treat your home like our own.  We tape and mask all surfaces with paper and a plastic sheeting to prevent any overspray onto anything but the surface we are to refinish.  While our process does utilize chemicals, we utilize a ducted ventilation system to reduce dust and odors.

How long does it take?  Completion time varies by project complexity, condition of surfaces and other factors, but typically most projects consisting of standard elements are completed within a few days.  Less complex projects, such as a single tub and surrounding tile refinish, can be completed in one day.  Once applied, the refinished surface cures to a very hard finish within 24 hours, and reaches full hardness in about a week.

When can I use my kitchen or bathroom again?  We suggest being gentle on the surfaces for the first week while the coating is still reaching a full cure.  There are additives we can use that significantly speed up the curing process, but these are used on an as-needed or requested basis.  If you need to use the surface the same day, tell the Taken by Granite OC technician and we may be able to modify the coating for a more rapid cure.

How do I treat and clean the refinished surface?  Our process offers a durable surface that will handle normal wear and usage of similar kitchen and bath surfaces.  A care and maintenance sheet is left at the site after completion for specific details.  This sheet should be followed to maximize the life of the surface and to honor the conditions of our five-year warranty.
